Best dental colleges for MDS in India

Are you an Intern? Are you pursuing your BDS degree? Do you have zero to very little idea about colleges available for an MDS degree in India?
Then this article is for you.
Read it till the end to clear your mind from doubts and fears for your MDS career.

As we know, all dental colleges of India do not provide the facility of MDS. And every college has its good and bad qualities in different departments.

This blog is just a piece of knowledge about various colleges. One must confirm and evaluate on basis of their research about these colleges.

3 Things you can do-
1. You can talk to your friends who are in a different college than yours. Get to know about theirs and what all facilities are being provided.
2. You may talk to the alumni (Instagram is a good source for this. Just check out the bio)
3. We sometimes don't consider this, but our parents do know a lot of people who might come into need at such times. Talk to them about it.

Now diving straight into it!

First and foremost, the hard to gets!
INIs or Institutes of National Importance
(Eg. AIIMS, JIPMER, PGI Chandigarh)
They take two batches on an annual basis.
Seats are roughly around 15.

Second, the ones you get when you study a lot hard.
I call them - The Next Levels!
But fear not. These are yet attainable if you study for your entrance exams with full dedication and devotion.

Here are few of them.

Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS)-
Of course, it needs no introduction.
Usually known as the dream college for most medical and dental students.
Really good facilities and events.
Great stipend.
Low fees.

GDCs (Government Dental Colleges across India)-
Again low fees.
Good stipend (which recently increased to more than double after years of protest).
Best thing is the huge patient flow due to minimal charges in these government-led institutions.

Manipal College of Dental Sciences (Manipal/Mangalore)-
One of the best colleges in India.
World-class facilities.
Fees are more.
Stipend is more.

King George Medical University(KGMC)-
It gains its royalty by its name.
Good infrastructure.
Great patient flow.

SDM College of Dental Sciences, Dharwad-
It is a single medical facility in the whole area around it. For sure the patient flow is good. Absolutely great.

CMC (Vellore/Ludhiana)-
Seats are very limited. But as they say, your CV speaks. Its name is enough for you to get a good appreciative look.
Thirdly, other good colleges you can opt which are good names on the list.
Some of them to start your search can include-
1. MS Ramaiah Dental College & Hospital, Bangaluru, Karnataka
2. AJ Institute of Dental Sciences, Manglore, Karnataka
3. AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Manglore, Karnataka
4. KLE VK Institute of Dental Sciences, Belgaum, Karnataka
5. Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental College and Hospital, Pune, Maharashtra
6. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

TIP: The list has become longer as more and more facilities are developing and more Students are pursuing Dentistry as a career.
Many private colleges are also available for MDS. If you have a good sum of amount in your pockets and are willing to spend on your career, then you may go for such private colleges. Only thing is, private colleges tend to have low patient flow, almost nil stipend and required putting in money almost all the time.

CONCLUSION-

Every dental college does not provide an MDS facility. Here are some best from the rest.

Choose your college wisely as it will define your career in future and everything that you've learnt.

Wasting time in college would only mean wasting the future.

Remember this: Do not get disheartened. Everyone can get into a good college. All you need is thorough knowledge. Do not play hit and trial with your future.
